The announcement that Jurgen Klopp’s favorite player isn’t from Liverpool startled the crowd.
The German is known for giving a lot of praise to opponents, and this was evident before Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup quarterfinal matchup with West Ham.
The Reds defeated Liverpool 5-1 at Anfield to advance to the semi-finals.
As the Man of the Match, Curtis Jones scored twice, while Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo, and Mohamed Salah also found the net.
Jarrod Bowen scored the lone goal for West Ham to tie the score at 1 through a beautiful strike with his weaker right foot.
The England international has previously been connected to Liverpool and has been mentioned as a possible Salah substitute.
