Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool surprise positions in Premier League table with no VAR
Manchester United earned a noteworthy point at Anfield, but how do the Red Devils perform in a table without the use of video assistant refereeing?
Despite repeated protests from Liverpool players, VAR was largely ignored during Manchester United’s valiant point at Anfield last weekend as Jurgen Klopp’s misfiring team found it difficult to break down the Red Devils.
The Reds believed they should have been awarded a penalty for two incidents: Sofyan Amrabat colliding with Luis Diaz just seven minutes before, and Luke Shaw’s handball following a Kostas Tsimikas cross in the 84th minute. After reviewing the incidents, VAR supported the decisions made by referee Michael Oliver, who did not award either as a penalty.
Although it is unusual for Manchester United, it was nice to witness a major game conclude without the VAR controversy that has become commonplace in the Premier League this season. ManchesterWorld examines what would happen to the Premier League table in the absence of VAR.
