BREAKING: Second Premier League sacking imminent with ex-Spurs boss in the frame to take over

Nuno Espirito Santo is being considered as Steve Cooper’s replacement, as Nottingham Forest’s performance has plummeted in recent weeks.

Steve Cooper’s tenure as manager of Nottingham Forest looks to be in jeopardy because Nuno Espirito Santo is expected to take over.

Cooper was aware that Friday’s match against Tottenham could be pivotal for him and that a 2-0 loss, nine days after a 5-0 thrashing at Fulham, might be the tipping point for the City Ground administration.

After more than 20 years away, the Welshman assisted in returning Forest to the Premier League, and he then ensured their place in the top division this past season. But according to reports, they have lost six of their past eight games and are now lower in the standings, suggesting a possible change is coming.

Before deciding on Cooper, the owner of Forest has previously demonstrated that he is a trigger happy person. With Forest currently ranked 17th in the Premier League, Nuno, the former Swansea manager, is likely set to make a comeback for a third try at managing the team. Nuno has been with the team for well over a decade.

Steve Cooper may have led his last Nottingham Forest game

Before going to Tottenham, where he lasted just ten games before being fired, the Portuguese manager had been successful at Wolves. He was fired by Saudi team Al-Ittihad last month. At the team, he coached players with a 64% win percentage, including Karim Benzema.

Cooper was left to lament goalkeeping Matt Turner’s mistakes on Friday, giving Tottenham goals away, but the Forest manager emphasized how much he loves his role.

“It is not something that should happen at this level,” he stated on his shotstopper. We must possess the things we are better at; occasionally these will be individual, and occasionally group. We’ll spend the weekend going over it. There are very little instances of high quality that we fail to provide.

“We are not handling defining moments, but I have no issues with the commitment. We must always aim to perform better. My work has always meant the world to me. I wish it weren’t the case, but I am aware that there are talking points around me. Although we are a close-knit team, I wish we were talking about victories.

“That’s how it has to remain. Our collective efforts have been the foundation of all we have done here. Fans witnessed a team that gave their all, but we must perform better and refrain from giving up goals that aren’t worth scoring.”
