Romano confirms forgotten Man Utd man will complete medical in next 24 hours with club set to lose £27m from deal
In the next 24 hours, Donny van de Beek will go through his medical before finalizing his loan transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt.
The midfield player is expected to finally fulfill his dream of moving, even if it’s only for the second half of the 2023–2024 season.
Van van Beek has made two distinct cameos this season—one in the Premier League and the other in the Carabao Cup—for a combined 21 minutes of play in all competitions. Though he has frequently been left off of the roster, he has occasionally been fortunate enough to make the substitutes’ bench and watch from the sidelines.
Supporters probably won’t have been surprised by his lack of playing time because Erik ten Hag had previously stated that Van van Beek wasn’t in his plans for the upcoming season and the summer. This is in addition to the fact that it has been the case since he signed in 2020. But in the transfer window, the player turned down interest from teams and chose to remain at Old Trafford.
The Dutch international is now prepared to test his abilities elsewhere with a move to the Bundesliga, having discovered the hard way that things won’t be getting better anytime soon.
Van de Beek is almost at the United exit.
If Van de Beek passes the necessary medical examinations, the loan agreement will be signed this week, according to Fabrizio Romano. Although it is not required, the terms do include a buy option worth €15 (£13) million (including add-ons), so he could return to Old Trafford in June 2024.
United stands to lose £27 million from the deal should he decide to permanently join Frankfurt, having previously paid a £40 million package for him three years prior.
