According to Sky Sports, Napoli is still interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, and their sporting director Giovanni Manna is now in England attempting to finalise any deals.

The Scotland international is wanted by the Red Devils, but they have turned down proposals from both the Serie A team and Fulham, who have now moved on and signed Sander Berge.

Although Manna is in town, it’s unclear if Napoli boss Antonio Conte intends to speak with Man United about a potential trade for McTominay. Conte has a lot of respect for the 27-year-old.

Despite Manuel Ugarte’s bench debut against Fulham, the Old Trafford team is already planning for the possible departure of their academy graduate; they are in talks with the Paris Saint-Germain star.

Erik ten Hag’s squad depth will not be harmed by the sale of McTominay, provided a suitable replacement is found. Atalanta midfielder Ederson has also been connected to Man United.

In terms of Financial Fair Play, cashing in on the academy graduate is pure profit as the Red Devils attempt to balance the books and adhere to Premier League profit and sustainability regulations.

Even though they made £49 million from the sales of Alvaro Fernandez, Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, and Donny van de Beek, they could still use more sales. This summer, they have spent over £155 million on the acquisitions of Leny Yoro, Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui.

If the current bids don’t please them, they might be forced to agree to a loan agreement with a buyout option for their Scottish star.

Man United may also hold off on reducing their demands for McTominay until the last few days of the transfer window, and other teams may decide to join Napoli in the competition for the midfield player.
