Joao Felix’s plaque vandalised AGAIN by Atletico Madrid fans at Metropolitano Stadium following ‘perfect’ Chelsea transfer
The commemorative plaque of Joao Felix at Metropolitano Stadium has once again been defaced by Atletico Madrid fans in response to his transfer to Chelsea.
Portuguese returns to Stamford Bridge
I participated in a loan spell with Barcelona last season. The supporters of Rojiblancos expressed their frustration.
The Portuguese player has permanently ended his association with the Liga team after completing a £46 million ($60m) transfer back to Stamford Bridge. Felix had a short-term loan with the Blues in 2023, where he scored four goals in 20 games.
He spent the previous season at Barcelona, stating that it was his “aspiration” to play for the Catalan giants. The comment received a negative reaction in the Spanish city, as Atletico supporters vandalised the plaque outside their stadium that acknowledges Felix’s 100-plus appearances for the club.
Subsequent activities have been carried out, involving the act of dumping garbage on the mentioned keepsake, along with the addition of another derogatory statement written on the floor. Felix has officially become a part of Atleti’s history after signing a six-year contract in west London.
The 24-year-old striker is prepared to welcome a fresh opportunity, expressing his thoughts on his transfer to England by stating: “It presents me with a chance to establish a permanent residence.” Following my two loan spells with Chelsea and Barcelona, I felt the urge to establish a permanent residence. Chelsea is the ideal location for me. I perceive an ideal location to radiate brilliance. Several factors motivated my desire to return, including the project, the club, the league, the fans, and the cherished memories of my previous time spent here. Despite the outcomes we achieved, I experienced a profound sense of satisfaction during my time here. I am elated to have returned.
