Chelsea offer Raheem Sterling to Premier League rival as transfer stance made crystal clear
Raheem Sterling has no future at Stamford Bridge under Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, and the player wants to stay in the Premier League.
Following Enzo Maresca’s declaration that the England winger is not wanted at Stamford Bridge, Raheem Sterling has been offered by Chelsea to Aston Villa.
The £47.5 million addition is one of the 15 Blues players open for sale, and he has been sent to train apart from the starting lineup.
Sterling wants to stay in the Premier League since Unai Emery’s team has promised him Champions League football, and he has ruled out moving to Saudi Arabia because he wants to regain his England spot. Federico Chiesa was the player that Juventus was interested in trading for, but Chelsea would not be happy with the trade.
After being left out of the starting lineup for the Premier League opener against Manchester City, Sterling stated he was looking for “clarity” from the organisation. At £300,000 per week, the former Liverpool winger is the highest paid player at Stamford Bridge, while the average salary on lengthier, incentive-filled contracts is currently only £60,000. In order to balance the books, the five-time Premier League players must sell players.
However, the Italian head coach asserted that Sterling is being sold for football-related reasons on the same day that Chelsea finalised the £45.5 million acquisition of Joao Felix.
“I like other types of wingers, but Raheem is a good player too,” he remarked. This explains the rationale.
“The day before City, Raheem and I had a one-on-one conversation in which I laid out the entire circumstances. Raheem wasn’t there when the game ended.Ben Chilwell and Sterling are now training separately. It’s obvious what the situation is with them both. Nothing has changed regarding their circumstances.”
“If Raheem and I sit down, I will tell him everything I’ve already told him. I told him everything I knew, therefore I don’t have anything new to tell.
It is now a race against time for the Stamford Bridge team to get rid of players before the August 31 transfer deadline, or else they may have to continue paying and using the undesired players.
“We’ll see,” the Italian continued. It’s a little early now. The transfer window is still open for another ten days. We’ll see because, as I’ve said numerous times, a lot can happen in the last week or 10 days.
