There are three years remaining on the contract at Stamford Bridge.

Sterling’s future at Chelsea became uncertain when he was excluded from Enzo Maresca’s squad for their Premier League opening match against Manchester City. As a result, his representatives requested “clarity” from Chelsea on his situation. The Standard reports that the 29-year-old player now acknowledges that his time at Stamford Bridge has come to an end. He has been left out of the team for Thursday’s Europa League play-off first leg against Servette.
According the source, the winger would consider offers from other teams before the upcoming transfer deadline, which falls on the following Friday. However, relocating him may prove to be more challenging than it sounds. Sterling is still under contract for three more years, earning £300,000 a week. Additionally, he has already established his young family in West London and will not be compelled to make a move that does not align with his preferences. The former Manchester City star has already declined interest from Saudi Arabia.
During a conversation after training on Friday, Maresca warned Sterling that Chelsea is giving higher priority to other players in his position and that he may have to depart. However, the head coach openly acknowledged his desire for the England international to remain on the team.
Sterling is currently in a state of limbo. Juventus is interested in acquiring the services of the ex-Liverpool striker. However, his substantial salary is causing difficulties, which is likely to be a challenge for other potential suitors as well. Before next week’s deadline, there are other Chelsea players whose future need resolution, not just the winger.
