Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, was questioned by Rio Ferdinand about the team’s difficulties and his role.

Rio Ferdinand, a legend of Manchester United, has opened up about his private chat with Erik ten Hag, during which he questioned the Red Devils manager about why his team wasn’t playing well on the field. After United’s most recent 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth, which dropped them to fourth place six points behind local rivals Manchester City, the Dutchman is under pressure once more.

Ferdinand is not only dissatisfied with the team’s performance this season, but also with the players’ demeanor and performances. He was hoping for more development in Ten Hag’s preferred style of play, something akin to his Ajax team that dominated European football.

However, Ferdinand feels that the Dutchman has not been able to instill his style of play in the group.

Ferdinand stated to talkSPORT, “I want to see a style of football.” “When you look at so many teams in the league, whether they’re near the top or the bottom, you can’t help but notice a style of football, identity, and philosophy.

A Sean Dyche squad is easy to identify when you see one. You can be sure he’s honing his team on the practice field when he sends them out.

Before the 3-3 Champions League draw away to Galatasaray, Ferdinand talked about his conversation with Ten Hag, during which the manager blamed their disappointing season on injuries.

“I spoke to Ten Hag before the Galatasaray game, and I said, ‘Why have we not seen a consistent performance from your team yet?'” Ferdinand clarified. “Well, I’ve had a lot of injuries,” he replied, “but I still think those other players that are coming in are on the training ground as well; they’re watching these training sessions and taking part.”

This season, Ten Hag’s job as United’s head coach has come under increasing pressure, but Ferdinand has maintained that he shouldn’t be fired because the team wouldn’t advance after his termination.

“Yes, [he should stay] based on what I witnessed last season,” Ferdinand continued. “I concur with him that this team is missing important players due to significant injuries. It goes beyond the manager alone. We’ll probably still be here in two years saying the same thing if you fire Ten Hag and replace him.

He has been attempting to alter the club’s culture with all of the dramas we’ve witnessed off the field, such as removing the armband from Harry Maguire, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Jaydon Sancho.
