Arsenal given two reasons to be fearful as Man City lose ground in title race

In the race for the Premier League title, Arsenal will be desperate to keep Manchester City at bay.

With six points separating them from title rivals Manchester City in the Premier League standings, Arsenal will be praying for a repeat of last year’s events. As things stand, Liverpool, who are currently two points behind their north London rivals, is trailing the Gunners at the top of the table.

On Wednesday night, Arsenal received a much-needed boost when Aston Villa defeated City, outlasting the Premier League champions to rightfully claim all three points. With 14 minutes left, Leon Bailey’s goal separated the two teams, and as a result, City’s winless streak in league games was extended to four games.

Following their thrilling victory over Luton Town on Tuesday night, Arsenal finds themselves in a promising position at the top of the table. Despite City’s dismal recent performance, there will surely be concerns that a recurrence of last season is possible.

Despite trailing the Gunners by eight points at one point, Pep Guardiola’s team ultimately won the Premier League title the previous season. After suffering four losses in nine games during a terrible run of form in February and March, City was able to rally and perform at their peak when it mattered most.

Arsenal will be hoping that City’s ability to perform under pressure does not come back to haunt them before the season ends. This showed that City have the right mindset to deliver when the chips are down. With a challenging schedule of games ahead of Mikel Arteta and his team, the north Londoners will also be anxious to avoid making mistakes themselves.

Arsenal may be in for a difficult trip this weekend as they travel to Aston Villa, who will be riding high following their thrilling victory over City. When the Gunners visit Villa Park on Saturday night, they will be keen to continue their winning streak as they have taken all 14 of their home league games.

After that, Arsenal will host Brighton, one of the top teams in the Premier League, in what promises to be another intense test. Two days before Christmas, a high-profile matchup with Liverpool is scheduled; the result could have a big influence on this season’s title race.

To win their first domestic championship in twenty years, Arsenal must hold City at bay for the remainder of the season. Whether they can accomplish this remains to be seen. Their chances of succeeding will depend on preventing a recurrence of the previous campaign, as City is committed to stopping the Gunners from winning the Premier League for a record fourth time in a row.
