I always like to say the truth even if their fans are not happy about that’: Gary Neville says there’s something this current Liverpool have that Arsenal as a team don’t have in this title race
Gary Neville thinks that Liverpool and Arsenal need to defeat Manchester City themselves to win the Premier League title. He acknowledges that the influence of Jurgen Klopp might play a significant role.
Liverpool will face Manchester City at Anfield on March 10 in a high-profile match between two top-performing teams. Jurgen Klopp’s team is only one point behind the current champions.
City narrowed the lead at the top of the table with a convincing 3-1 victory over Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium, with Phil Foden scoring twice. Arsenal is currently five points behind Liverpool and four points behind the second-placed Manchester team. They have the opportunity to narrow this gap on Monday when they play against struggling Sheffield United.
Neville believes that the forthcoming matches between the top teams are essential for Liverpool and Arsenal to surpass City and win the title.
“Liverpool and Arsenal must believe they can defeat Manchester City,” he stated. To make a significant change in thinking that City will win the league, they must adopt that mindset.
“I believe that whenever we lost titles, the team that eventually won came to Old Trafford and emerged victorious, like Chelsea with Carlo Ancelotti, Sylvain Wiltord scoring, and Mark Overmars scoring.” They didn’t come to Old Trafford to get a point by playing decently; they came and surprised us.
He stated that Liverpool and Arsenal will need to undermine the confidence of Pep Guardiola’s team to counter their current dominance.
Liverpool have momentum, vitality, and benefit from the influence of Klopp. Arsenal is currently the top-performing team defensively and has begun to excel in their offensive play.
City possesses the most experience. All three have a unique attribute. This is where we will learn about all three of them. Can City repeat their success and secure victory? Can Arsenal accomplish what they failed to achieve last year? They collapsed with ten games remaining. It’s that moment once more.
“I have always desired to witness Arsenal and City in a similar position to assess the extent of their progress.” I believe they have progressed with William Saliba and Declan Rice. They have improved from the previous year and now possess greater strength.
“I am eager for the upcoming games, as they will reveal the true nature of these teams.” City is the benchmark that they need to surpass. To defeat them, you must not rely on the possibility of City losing points at a certain venue; instead, focus on beating them yourself. Both Liverpool and Arsenal must defeat their opponents.
