INEOS leak about Erik ten Hag speaks volumes as Man Utd boss at risk of sack
Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, is under mounting scrutiny regarding his tenure.
After Sir Jim Ratcliffe and company arrived at Old Trafford, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag allegedly faces an uphill struggle to retain his position as manager. There will be major changes at United’s sporting department under the leadership of the former INEOS chief, who became a minority shareholder last month.
Although talks regarding Dan Ashworth’s future have stalled, Ratcliffe has already set his sights on the newly appointed CEO, Omar Berrada, and the Newcastle sporting director, who is currently on gardening leave.
However, United would undergo a dramatic transformation if a new head coach were to be installed to begin a new era, displacing the untenured Ten Hag. After losing their last league match at home to Fulham, Manchester United are currently sixth in the Premier League and heavy underdogs heading into Sunday’s Manchester derby.
No decision has been made regarding Ten Hag’s future, but INEOS is starting to see him as their Claudio Ranieri from Chelsea before Roman Abramovic appointed Jose Mourinho, who had great success, according to The Independent.
Every department will be examined by the new chiefs, who have made it clear that standards must be improved across the board. No one is safe from being replaced, including Ten Hag. The Dutchman still hasn’t won over Ratcliffe and company with his self-assurance, and his inconsistent performances need fixing.
Thought to be salvageable, Ten Hag must have a much better season finale to win over United’s new management. This latest leak does not bode well for his future, but he will remain hopeful that it can happen once important players return from injuries.
Ten Hag wants his detractors to look at the “bigger picture” following a run of bad form, even though it may seem like INEOS could hire a head coach of their choosing like Graham Potter, Simone Inzaghi, or Roberto De Zerbi since Ten Hag’s fate is already sealed.
“After these two months I can’t go with that approach,” Ten Hag said when asked about the possibility of not playing in the Champions League next season. Up until now, everything has gone swimmingly, but we’ve hit a roadblock.
After a setback, it’s important to look at the broader picture, and that picture is looking good. After we recover from injuries and play catch-up in some positions, we’ll be better able to balance the roster and add depth during the transfer windows.
A lot of talented young players are on the rise, so we must be heading in the right direction. We are a formidable squad when all of our players are healthy and available.
