Top-class star is back, Pedro Porro’s replacement named, Spurs striker to lead the line amid Richarlison injury Revealed and it’s NOT Timo Werner – Tottenham expected line up Vs Crystal Palace to seal 3-points at N17
On Saturday afternoon, Tottenham will face Crystal Palace in the Premier League, and Ange Postecoglou will need to make a few selections.
On Saturday, Postecoglou will face Oliver Glasner and his team at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, following a two-week break during which he worked with the squad following the Premier League loss to Wolves. Glasner is coming off a victory in his Palace debut.
Destiny Udogie, a left-sided defender, has returned to training, which is great news for Postecoglou’s team’s performance. On the other hand, Pedro Porro has a week to recover from a thigh muscle injury, according to Postecoglou.
Richarlison will miss the remainder of the international break after injuring his knee against Wolves. Postecoglou may start captain Son Heung-min in the center of the field, which could make it difficult for left backs Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner to earn a spot.
Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison are vying for the midfield anchor position, but the Spurs manager also has to choose between Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur, with James Maddison possibly keeping his place due to his offensive prowess.
In this weekend’s match against Crystal Palace, we expect Postecoglou to start the following Spurs lineup:
Mateo Guglielmo Vicario
The Italian goalkeeper will be available to face Palace after winning this week’s London Football Award.
Royal, Emerson, at right back
Given Porro’s absence, the Brazilian will most likely continue to play right back; however, he will be expected to contribute more later on.
Cristian Romero, Postecoglou’s central defender and vice captain, will be held to a high standard.
Micky van de Ven, for central defense
After Palace diverted a ball across goal, Spurs will seek the Dutchman out again for his pace.
Destiny Udogie plays as a left-sided defender.
It is expected that the Italian will be able to play this weekend after returning to training this week.
Pape Matar Sarr, central midfielder Postecoglou relies on Sarr’s versatility and energy, but he may fight for a starting role.
Up front, Yves Bissouma
In the competition for the anchor position, Bissouma and Bentancur will face off, but the Malian’s defensive prowess may prove decisive.
Midfield attacker James Maddison
In order to get Spurs back on track, Postecoglou needs the England international to be in top creative form.
Defending the right is Dejan Kulusevski
The Swede should keep finding the back of the net after scoring a fantastic goal in his last outing.
Midfielder Son Heung-min
The South Korean will most likely start the season back in the middle of the field, where he had good playmaking opportunities alongside Maddison.
Timo Werner, on the left side
With Richarlison out for the season, the lightning-fast German could be able to get back on the attack down the left side.
