Eric Dier, an England defender, has joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham. He will once again play alongside Harry Kane, who moved to the Bundesliga this summer.

Eric Dier’s “amazing” transfer to Bayern Munich is now complete.

Dier, a 29-year-old defender for Tottenham, signed a deal in one of the most unexpected transactions of the transfer window to join the German powerhouses until the end of the current campaign, with a one-year option to extend in the summer.

After losing his spot and moving down Ange Postecoglou’s hierarchy, Dier is now playing for one of the top teams in European football. When the England international Dier arrived in Munich to finalize the transfer, he was asked if he was excited to play for Bayern.

He replied, “Very much, very much.” “Wonderful club… amazing.” Tottenham reached a shock agreement because Dier’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, and it gives Dier the opportunity to reunite with Harry Kane, a close friend and former teammate.

“We wish Eric and his family all the best for the future,” a statement from Tottenham read. Dier was a target for Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel last summer, and he has returned to strengthen the team as they look to win the Bundesliga and take on Lazio in the Champions League.

The Bundesliga team Tuchel leads takes on Hoffenheim this Friday night. “He’s a specialist at center-back,” Tuchel said. Though not for very long, he has also appeared in the Premier League as a No. 6.

“We’re acquiring him to play center back. He is capable of playing in a back three as well as at right or left center back. We primarily acquired him so Leon Goretzka would no longer have to switch to center back and be able to play in midfield.

After agreeing to a £21.5 million deal to sign Radu Dragusin from Lazio and bringing in Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig, Tottenham decided to offload Dier. “This move is a dream come true for me, because as a child you want to play for a club like Bayern one day,” Dier added.

“With an amazing history, Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. I want to use my defensive versatility to benefit the team. I think the Allianz Arena is one of the greatest stadiums in the world, and I’m really looking forward to my new teammates and the supporters there.

Regarding the agreement, Christoph Freund, sporting director of Bayern, stated: “We’re happy we were able to sign Eric Dier.” We have been considering him for this transfer window for a while. Eric is going to be a key player in our defense. The team will benefit from his athletic prowess and global experience in the locker room as well as on the field.
