“The transfer is completed and the squad number is already given: Transfer expert confirms Man United’s latest signing as he revealed the squad number awarded to him
Manchester United is getting closer to adding a big player to their roster: midfielder Manuel Ugarte of PSG.
Reputable journalist Ben Jacobs has provided an update, stating that the Red Devils and PSG have reached a significant agreement whereby PSG is willing to allow Ugarte to depart on a one-year loan with a purchase obligation.
In an interview with GiveMeSport, Jacobs stated that the agreement on the transaction structure represents a major advancement in the transfer negotiations.
The cost is still a source of disagreement between the two teams, though. Manchester United is apparently trying to haggle for a cheaper price, while PSG is supposedly looking for a sum close to £60 million.
Despite this, Jacobs indicates that if other negotiations go well, the cost might not be a significant barrier to closing the sale.
Jacobs stated:
“So, in the past 24 to 48 hours, there has been progress, with encouraging discussions between the teams. And maybe most importantly, PSG is now willing to undertake an obligatory loan, which benefits Manchester United structurally.
Even though Manchester United is aiming for slightly less, the French champions are adhering to their estimate, which is in the neighbourhood of 60 million euros. However, there is a strong sense among the clubs that this one can be completed.
Manuel Ugarte paid £51.1 million to join PSG from Sporting CP last summer.
For the French powerhouse, the Uruguayan defensive midfielder made 37 appearances in all competitions, starting 27 of them.
Ugarte, who is renowned for his defensive tenacity and ability to disrupt play, did not have the finest of seasons in his first season with the French team, but he did contribute with three assists and played an important position in their midfield.
