Tearful Zirkzee in abrupt U-turn on Man Utd future after Newcastle debacle as surprise suitor opens door to loan
Three clubs are interested in signing Joshua Zirkzee because he decided that being substituted early against Newcastle was enough proof that he needs to leave Manchester United as soon as possible after being made to cry by Ruben Amorim. Gary Neville has expressed his sympathy for the player after his withdrawal.
The Red Devils lost badly to Newcastle at home on Monday night, 2-0. Eddie Howe’s team gave Manchester United their fifth loss in six Premier League games, putting them a frightening seven points above the relegation zone. Because of this, Amorim has been under a lot of pressure. His team choices have been questioned, and Gary Neville has said that the newly hired Portuguese coach could be fired if things keep going badly.
Even more quickly, though, Zirkzee could be a victim of Monday’s loss. The Netherlands forward was cruelly taken off after only 33 minutes and replaced by Kobbie Mainoo.
At the start of December, we said that Zirkzee would make a decision about his future that month. In fact, the 23-year-old player who joined from Bologna in the summer had decided that he would not consider any offer to leave Old Trafford, even for a short time, until the game against Newcastle.
We heard from sources that the player was focused on using the month’s nine games to earn Amorim’s trust and show that he deserves a long-term future under the new boss.
Anyway, things have been going badly ever since the 4-0 win over Everton at the beginning of the month, when they were playing their best. The things that happened on Monday night have now made Zirkzee even more sure that he needs to make changes and find what we’ve been calling “mental serenity.” The player has been missing this for too long.
Therefore, we hear that Zirkzee has now asked his team, who this summer forced him to make the move to United instead of AC Milan because United paid more to the agents, to look over the Serie A transfer offers. Zirkzee knows a lot about this league, and he thinks it can help him get his trust back.
It is well known that Juventus and AC Milan are two of the teams interested in making a deal with him.
But new information that TEAMtalk has learned suggests that a return to old team Bologna is also becoming more likely. Bologna is getting closer to re-signing the player, even if it means taking him on loan for the rest of the season since they are one step away from being eliminated in the Champions League.
Zirkzee is willing to let Manchester United go after Gary Neville showed his support.
We’ve heard that Bologna has made it clear that they want to bring the player back on loan. Zirkzee is still very popular with the Serie A team and led them to a historic UCL entry last year.
In any case, Zirkzee’s request is clear: he has told his managers to find a place in Italy (even if it’s only for a short time) where there isn’t too much stress. Both Juventus and Milan are still strong contenders, even though both are having tough seasons and need players who are ready for the extra pressure that will come with the second half of the season.
Unfortunately, Zirkzee’s future has not yet been decided. However, it is certain that in the next few days, his team will work very hard to find him a new home away from Old Trafford, with a return to Serie A being the player’s top choice.
Neville felt very sorry for the star player after being substituted early in the game against Newcastle.
“I really do feel bad for him,” Neville told Sky Sports. “I understand that he’s making a lot of money here, but there is a person inside who is being booed off by his own fans, and that is cruel.” In the 43 years I’ve been coming to Old Trafford, I haven’t seen that too often.
Amorim also gave his own reason for pulling out, telling Sky Sports, “Josh is a Manchester United player that we want more power sometimes in front of.”
“We always give up the first goal from set pieces, so we sent more players to set pieces today.”
“Every problem on the team is being dealt with, but sometimes we have a lot of them.” When you push one side, the other side opens up.
“No doubt about it, Newcastle was the better team.”
Neville says that Man Utd need to sign two gamers in January.
Neville says the club needs to bring in two players in January to give Amorim a fair chance of turning things around now that big questions are being asked of him.
Dave Jones, who hosts Monday Night Football, asked Neville what moves would help Amorim right now.
Neville replied, “Definitely the positions that…” You could say, “Get a world-class center forward, get Alexander Isak,” but that will never happen.
“If you were just starting out, I think you should start with the wing-backs. They’re what hold the system together.”
“You’ll have a hard time if you don’t have wing-backs that can move up and down and attack and defend just as well. There aren’t many of those around, by the way, because not many teams play wing-backs.”
“So you need two different players in those wide areas. I believe that’s where you should start.”
“That has nothing to do with [Diogo] Dalot and [Noussair] Mazraoui; they’re willing to help and are doing their best.” But those are the two things I think need to be fixed in this scheme.
The news about Marcus Rashford’s future has been updated by Ben Jacobs. Three Saudi teams are interested, and PSG’s stance on a January move has also been made public.
At the same time, the first offer for Antony has come in, and it’s a tempting one for the suffering Brazilian.
