Sir Jim Ratcliffe had already warned Erik ten Hag over Man Utd expectations amid sack threat

Sir Jim Ratcliffe emphasized the importance of Champions League qualification to Erik ten Hag after officially becoming a part-owner of Manchester United.

The 71-year-old British businessman and his Ineos company have gained control of sporting operations at Old Trafford by purchasing a 27.7% share in the club from the Glazer family. The agreement was valued at approximately £1.25 billion and was approved last month.

United’s new leadership is already making significant changes, and there may be more changes in the future, with Ten Hag’s position at risk. The Dutchman is facing more criticism after a lackluster campaign and a humiliating 3-1 loss in the Manchester derby on Sunday.

United is now 11 points behind the top-four teams as we approach the last portion of the season. Ratcliffe has suggested that Ten Hag’s continued tenure is contingent on United’s qualification for Europe’s top knockout competition, with uncertainty surrounding the coach’s long-term prospects.

Ratcliffe emphasized during an interview with BBC Sport last month that their primary goal is to qualify for the Champions League next year. It is crucial for Financial Fair Play (FFP).

Ratcliffe is running out of time for Manchester United to accomplish such a feat. Ten Hag is nearing a crucial series of matches with only 11 Premier League games left in the season.

Ineos is reportedly still undecided on whether to replace managers, but United legend Paul Scholes feels that Ratcliffe and his associates have already made a decision regarding the Dutchman.

Scholes said on Optus Sport after Sunday’s loss to Manchester City that the current performance of United is well below the standard required for competing for the league title. Each season feels far.

Scholes indicated that he believes INEOS has already decided whether Ten Hag will remain in charge next season. I doubt he will be present in the upcoming season. Declined.

“Based on the interviews with Sir Jim, I perceived a hint of pessimism towards the club over the past 10 or 11 years, particularly in the last two years.” I believe he is discontent with the current situation. They may be seeking a new manager at this point. “I’m not affirming it’s the correct choice.”
