In-loan Antoine Griezmann praised Mason Greenwood, a forward for Manchester United, for his performance for Getafe against Atletico Madrid. On Tuesday night, Greenwood, who is unlikely to play for the Red Devils again, gave 10-man Atletico a lot of trouble.

Greenwood has played a pivotal role in Getafe’s remarkable recent success. In the last 12 La Liga games, his team has only suffered one loss.

And the Madrid team secured one of their best results of the year at the Metropolitano Stadium, tying the league-chasing Atletico to a 3-3 draw.

Although Greenwood did not register a point, his opponents singled him out for commendation. Griezmann acknowledged that they lost two points because they were unable to stop the 22-year-old.

The seasoned Frenchman told Viaplay that Mason Greenwood “was really causing us problems in the second half.” “We lost the game because we were unable to stop him.”

United supporters may get irritated by Griezmann’s compliments. With just two Premier League goals between them this season, Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, and Antony have been the Red Devils’ worst performers up top.

Although Greenwood may have aided United’s cause this season, it was decided that he would launch his career outside of Old Trafford.

The Crown Prosecution Service dropped its charges against Greenwood earlier this year, including those of attempted rape, assault, and coercive behavior. He refuted all of the allegations, but it was determined that his career would be better off outside of the club following an internal club investigation.

Due to a lack of alternatives, United finally decided to lend money to Getafe. Greenwood’s return to action at Old Trafford is incredibly unlikely, according to United’s hierarchy.

It’s still unclear, though, what position Sir Jim Ratcliffe will take on the matter. The British billionaire is rumored to be getting ready to take over United’s sports department after the board of directors approves his proposal to purchase a 25% stake in the team.

Greenwood’s Getafe loan is scheduled to expire at the end of the current season, so Ratcliffe will probably have to decide for himself what to do with him.
