Police Officer Fighting for His Life After On-Duty Crash Is Named

 

A police officer who remains in critical condition following a serious road collision while on duty has been formally named by authorities. PC James Holloway, 32, of the West Midlands Police, was seriously injured in a crash that occurred during a routine patrol on Thursday evening.

 

The incident took place at approximately 8:45 p.m. on the A456 near Birmingham. PC Holloway was responding to a call when his marked police vehicle collided with another car at a junction. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the officer was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he is currently receiving intensive care.

 

The driver of the second vehicle, a 45-year-old man, was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He is assisting police with their ongoing investigation.

 

Chief Constable Sarah Dean said in a statement, “Our thoughts are with PC Holloway, his family, friends, and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time. James is a dedicated officer who was carrying out his duties to protect the public. We are doing everything we can to support his loved ones.”

 

The crash site was closed for several hours overnight while collision investigators worked to determine the cause of the incident. Police have appealed for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

 

PC Holloway has served with the force for over seven years and is well-respected among his peers. Colleagues and members of the public have flooded social media with messages of support and prayers for his recovery.
