Officially announced: Sixth signing after Ugarte to have ‘medical next week’ as Romano reveals fee – terms agreed as Ten Hag plans special unveiling for the new signing
Sixth signing following Ugarte will undergo “medical next week,” officially announced: Ten Hag has planned a special unveiling for the new signing, while Romano reveals the fee and terms agreed upon.
Sekou Kone is expected to finalise his transfer to Old Trafford next week, meaning Man Utd will add another summer addition. This is according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
With Manuel Ugarte anticipated to finalise his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in the next few days, Kone would be the Red Devils’ sixth summer acquisition.
Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui are already on the Man Utd roster as the board looks to provide Erik ten Hag all the resources he needs to succeed this season.
Romano disclosed yesterday that a contract to acquire Uruguayan international Ugarte from French powerhouse PSG was in the “final stages,” with the player expected to join on a loan with a buyout option.
“Manchester United are now close to getting Manu Ugarte deal done!” the Italian tweeted on X. As was disclosed last week, #MUFC wants to move forward with the loan plus purchase requirement, and their meeting with PSG was fruitful. Ederson is not up for bid; Man Utd wants Ugarte; specifics are being worked out. Deal with things last.
Man Utd is reportedly “close to completing the signing” of Ugarte, according to Football Insider, and PSG’s readiness to approve a loan move would “go a long way to getting the deal over the line.”
“Sticky point for the Premier League giants as they haven’t been keen to pay the £50 million asking price” had been a permanent deal this summer.
And as Erik ten Hag looks to improve his midfield options, Man Utd now “expects the transfer to be completed before the 31st August cut-off.” Ugarte is “adamant about moving to England, as he has become less important to the French outfit.”
However, given that Romano confirmed yesterday that 18-year-old Kone will join Man Utd from Guidars FC, it doesn’t appear that the Red Devils’ business will finish there.
“EXCLUSIVE: Man United agrees deal to sign Guidars FC’s 2006-born Mali international talent Sékou Koné, here we go,” Romano said. Although Koné was on the lists of other teams, United and Koné struck an agreement today. He is regarded as a great talent and is included in long-term strategies much like Chido Obi Martin.
And now, Romano expanded on his earlier report by claiming that Kone will have a “medical” next week in addition to closing a £1 million trade to Old Trafford.
“More on exclusive news on Sékou Koné to join Manchester United,” Romano stated on X. Complete agreement reached; paperwork to be completed following the check-up the following week. A £1 million transfer fee in addition to other performance-based add-ons. International talent from Mali, born in 2006, is seen as a wise investment.
