OFFICIAL NOW: Manchester United announce the signing of 23yr sensational player after beating Liverpool and Madrid for His signature, agreement reached on a 5yr deal, Medical completed – announcement ongoing
OFFICIAL NOW: Manchester United has announced the signing of a magnificent 23-year-old player, surpassing both Liverpool and Madrid in the process. A five-year contract has been agreed upon, the player’s medical has been done, and the announcement is still pending.
Late in this transfer window, Manchester United reportedly made a formal offer to sign Ederson, a star player for Atalanta, according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla.
The Red Devils have made the decision to sign a new midfield player as a possible long-term replacement for Casemiro, given the Brazilian’s underwhelming performances during the previous campaign.
Despite the fact that the former Real Madrid player showed some progress in this season’s first match against Fulham last weekend, it appears United is moving forward with their plan to buy a new midfield player before the deadline.
Manu Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain has been mentioned as the major target a lot, and negotiations to get him to Old Trafford are apparently going well.
But it looks like Man Utd have other choices as well, with Ederson being one of them, in case they are unable to get Ugarte’s signature.
Ederson to Manchester United
According to Pedulla, Man Utd met with Atalanta to finalise the paperwork related to Rasmus Hojlund’s summer transfer, and they made an offer to sign Ederson worth £42 million (€50 million) at that meeting.
According to the journalist, Man Utd has been keeping an eye on the South American talent for the past few years and, having seen potential, tried to sign him.
Italian claims, however, that La Dea have turned down the offer since they won’t allow their top player to depart at the end of this transfer window.
Ederson is more of a playmaker and a defensive midfielder. He can, however, dribble past opposing defenders and is at ease in possession of the ball.
The midfield player had an outstanding season the previous year, winning the Europa League and helping his team end a trophy drought spanning over sixty years.
If United had been able to secure the outstanding 25-year-old, they could have made a wise addition. However, it appears that they have Ugarte as their main objective and are working to hire him before the deadline.
Ten Hag’s team has already spent more than £130 million to bring in Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Joshua Zirkzee. It will be interesting to watch how much money they wind up spending this summer.
