Due to a recent knee injury, Gabriel Jesus was listed as a late absence for Arsenal prior to their FA Cup match against Liverpool. Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has since commented on the Brazilian striker.

Following his most recent setback to his injury, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta provided an update on the injured forward Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian striker was left off of Arsenal’s roster just a few hours before their FA Cup match at Emirates Stadium against Liverpool. In his absence, the Gunners failed to capitalize on numerous good opportunities, which ultimately led to their elimination from the competition as the Reds emerged victorious 2-0 on the evening.

After an own goal by Jakub Kiwior and a late strike by Luis Diaz, Arsenal’s awful FA Cup run since winning it in 2020 continued. The absence of Jesus was definitely felt, as the Gunners missed several fantastic opportunities in both halves.

Though this is already the third distinct issue that Jesus has faced this season, there is still hope that his most recent problem is not serious. Following Arsenal’s match against Liverpool, Arteta said, “He was experiencing some knee pain.” A scan that we conducted reveals something.”

When asked if there was a chance that Jesus’ injury might be more serious than initially thought, the Gunners manager kept his cards close to his chest and simply said, “Hopefully not.” Given their struggles in front of goal, Arsenal needs him back sooner rather than later based on their performance against Liverpool.

Ivan Toney of Brentford is currently thought to be Arteta’s primary target amid persistent rumors that he may try to add offensive reinforcements this month. After the match, the manager of Arsenal was unavoidably questioned about the January transfer window.

“One thing is what we need and another is what we can do,” said Arteta. “What we can do is stick behind those players and make sure we stick behind those players.”

When asked what he thought of the supporters’ desire to sign a new attacker, the Spaniard responded with an equally passionate plea. “Please show your support for the team, I beg of you. The team deserves your support; they are very talented. Given their attitude, they deserve the support.”

The next Arsenal game is on January 20th when they host Crystal Palace in the Premier League at the Emirates. In order for the Gunners to salvage a season that is on the verge of collapse, they must win.
