MESSI IS A GREAT PLAYER BUT AS OF NOW AM VERY MUCH BETTER THAN HIM. AM BETTER THAN ANYONE AND EVERYONE-ERLING HAALAND PRAISES HIMSELF
The Manchester City striker had an outstanding first season at Etihad Stadium, scoring 52 goals in all competitions to assist the club in achieving an unprecedented treble. The Norwegian player did not win the 2023 Ballon d’Or award. He came in second place behind Lionel Messi from Argentina and Inter Miami, who led La Albiceleste to their third World Cup victory in December 2022.
When questioned whether Messi needs to retire for Haaland to win top individual accolades, Haaland responded during a news conference on Tuesday: “Good question!” Uncertain. Having achieved great success at a young age, I aim to replicate that success. Messi is considered the greatest player of all time, and his retirement may be necessary for another player to be recognized as the best.
The Norwegian player has not matched his exceptional goal-scoring performance from the previous season. However, he is now leading the race to win the Premier League Golden Boot with 18 goals in 22 league matches. Meanwhile, Messi is performing exceptionally well in the 2024 MLS season with Inter Miami, achieving four goal contributions in three matches.
Manchester City will face Copenhagen in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday. Haaland, who has scored five goals in the competition this season, will be looking to increase his tally. The reigning European champions are currently leading 3-1 on aggregate. Messi is scheduled to play for Inter Miami in their match against Nashville on March 8.
