MEDICAL BOOKED: Manchester United and the player have reached the final stages of negotiations to sign the £45 million Champions League winner. Ten Hag will welcome a new major addition tomorrow.

This summer, Man United has the opportunity to sign Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell.

The left-back position at Manchester United Football Club has seen a lot of injuries recently. Luke Shaw will always sustain injuries, and Tyrell Malacia hasn’t played football in almost eighteen months.

As a result, it was widely anticipated that Erik ten Hag would explore his options as a left-back during the current summer transfer window. That hasn’t happened thus far, but in the final few weeks of the timeframe, it might.

Ben Chilwell is one man who is available. United has now been “offered the chance” to sign the 27-year-old this summer, according to talkSPORT.

At Chelsea, Chilwell has lost favour with Enzo Maresca, who has informed the Englishman that he will not be included in his future plans.

The left-back is no longer Maresca’s first choice; Marc Cucurella was named in Chelsea’s squad for their match against Manchester City last weekend.

It is reported that Chilwell is now weighing his options. His contract expires in two years.

Here, injuries are the main problem. It is not ideal that Chilwell spends more time on the sidelines than Shaw, in my opinion.

Chilwell would also need to receive a respectable salary from United. The club doesn’t seem to have much wiggle room in that area right now, and any deal might be completely dependent on selling a left-back first.

This seems like a horrible idea all around. Why add a new player to the roster after an injured one? Sincerely, I think the Chilwell ship has sailed, and United should look elsewhere if they intend to sign a left-back.
