Mauricio Pochettino's 'respectful' response to reports Chelsea could break another British transfer record

Evan Ferguson of Brighton has been linked to Chelsea in recent weeks, but following their 1-0 victory over Fulham, manager Mauricio Pochettino says he is not aware of any interest in the forward or any striker.

The Blues and Brighton get along well because they recently spent a good amount of money on Marc Cucurella and Moises Caicedo. Graham Potter was also signed by them from the Seagulls following Thomas Tuchel’s dismissal.

Ferguson recently inked a new contract with Brighton, which is estimated to be worth £115 million. As a result, the west London team will need to set yet another British record in order to sign him.

When asked if there was actual interest in the Irish striker, Pochettino responded, “No. You are well aware that I don’t discuss rumors or players who play for other teams. I’m really considerate. We’re not exchanging words. We are evaluating the squad, and we will let you know if anything changes. We haven’t made a decision as of yet.

“I didn’t say we needed a striker. Create a problem with my people after that. I did not state yesterday that it is necessary. We operate similarly to other clubs, I said. attempting to observe and evaluate the market and every scenario that might arise. The club’s readiness to take action in any direction is what matters most. I never suggested that we bring on a new player.”

As they head into a 10-day break before the next match, Chelsea has won three straight league games and four of their previous five home games.
