Man Utd now consider signing £15m Galatasaray striker to help lack of goals as Kylian Mbappe backs him to shine at Old Trafford

Kylian Mbappe believes the £15 million Galatasaray striker can score goals, so Man Utd are now considering signing him to help with their goal deficit.
FootballTransfers can confirm that Manchester United is considering a possible loan agreement for Mauro Icardi during the January transfer window.

Since joining Galatasaray in the summer, the Argentine striker’s play has improved, and he now has an outstanding record of 17 goals in 25 games for the Turkish team.

The Red Devils are interested in hiring Icardi for the rest of the season because it’s understood that he’s looking for new challenges in an effort to qualify for Europe. There would presumably be a clause attached to the loan.

In the Champions League group stage at Old Trafford last month, Galatasaray defeated 10-man Man Utd 3–0 thanks to goals from Icardi and Wilfried Zaha. The former Inter player left an impression on Red Devils management.

We are informed that Erik ten Hag is seeking a new forward urgently. Ramus Hojlund, a Danish forward signed for a reported £64 million from Atalanta in the summer, has only managed one goal in the Premier League, and their other attacking options have not been up to par.

Man Utd is looking to bring in a player who can be a surefire goal scorer in order to make up for this lack of skill in front of goal.

Interestingly, Icardi had previously stated that he would have been open to moving to the Premier League and that he would have liked to join Old Trafford in 2022.

This season, Man Utd’s attackers have not scored any goals.
Man Utd’s winter window will reportedly be somewhat limited, with adherence to the Financial Fair Regulations being a top priority, according to sources.

When does the contract for Mauro Icardi expire?
Icardi’s career has recently taken off in Turkey after some turbulent years in France and Italy.

Prior to agreeing to a three-year contract with the team in the summer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain for a €10 million transfer fee, he first joined Galatasaray on a loan last year.

Icardi is ranked at €13.1 million by the Estimated Transfer Value algorithm, and his contract in Turkey expires in 2026.
