Report: Arsenal “agrees to meet” midfielder’s £50 million asking price.
Arsenal is once more rumored to be interested in a £50 million midfield powerhouse.

According to reports, Arsenal will rekindle their interest in a midfield player for £55 million in an effort to bolster their roster.

The Gunners are currently deficient in many areas; goals are becoming harder to come by and their defense has appeared weaker in recent weeks. However, midfield has proven to be one of the most important positions to strengthen.

Granit Xhaka’s absence has been felt since the Swiss captain left the Emirates Stadium for Bayer Leverkusen, a fierce Bundesliga rival, and Kai Havertz’s arrival in midfield has been uneventful.

Mikel Arteta is reportedly prepared to try again for Spain international Martin Zubimendi, who is also being followed by Barcelona in La Liga after a string of strong performances that have Sociedad positioned in the European rankings. This information is attributed to the Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.

The player’s release clause was reportedly being considered by Arsenal last summer, and Mundo’s most recent letter reiterates that the Gunners are one of the host clubs “willing to pay” the €60 million clause in Zubimendi’s current contract, which expires in 2027.

However, Mundo also point to what could be a key sticking point for Arteta and company, as they believe that the San Sebastian native has not yet decided if he wants to leave Sociedad, who have a Champions League last-16 tie against Paris Saint-Germain coming up next month.

Due to his performance over the previous 12 months, Zubimendi has gained acceptance into the Spain national team. In November, while serving as a substitute for Spain against Georgia, he earned his fourth cap for the national team.

Arsenal has not yet entered the January transfer window, so it might come as a shock if they made a major investment in a defensive midfielder. Instead, attacking reinforcements are probably going to be the Emirates’ top priority as they try to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool in the second half of the season
