“It was important to me that I went to a club that was playing for the Champions League” – West Ham star follows in Declan Rice footsteps as reports confirms move away from London Stadium has been COMPLETED behind the scenes
Despite the player’s refusal to confirm the news, Thilo Kehrer has left West Ham for AS Monaco.
According to SportBILD, the defender was asked today whether a deal had been agreed upon during an interview.
After West Ham finished last season in last place at the London Stadium, they sent Kehrer on loan to Monaco for the summer.
He joined the club from PSG and has been a mainstay ever since, but last season he was largely benched as Moyes won the Europa League Conference without him.
Kehrer was determined to play regularly elsewhere in the summer so he could earn a spot on Germany’s Euro 2024 roster, so he left in the summer.
According to SportBILD, the Ligue 1 club was actually required to meet certain goals in order to exercise a buyout option in the summer as part of the West Ham–Monaco loan agreement.
Kehrer will remain in the Principality for the upcoming season after a €11 million deal was finalized, thanks to the aforementioned accomplishments.
When asked directly about it, Kehrer chose to ignore the question and instead discuss the reasons behind his transfer.
His position on the team, his role within it, and his ability to communicate openly with the coach were all things he emphasized.
“I am content if that is so. Because I was already familiar with the league and the language from my time in Paris, I had no trouble adjusting.
Taking part in the European Championships in my home country is my ultimate goal. Up until last June, I was a member of the national squad. Following that, I didn’t have many opportunities to contribute to West Ham’s lineup, so I didn’t put my case for nomination forward.
Going to a club that was competing in the Champions League was crucial for me. I aspired to contribute my quality to the team right away and play in games.
“Monaco was the finest place for the entire package. Our coach Adi Hütter is part of that group. Despite his laid-back demeanor, he is extremely direct and demanding at work.
