“If Enzo Maresca is really desperate to challenge for the league title, then He must sign these two players; if not, I don’t see them ending up in the top four this season,” Pep Guadiola tells Maresca the key signing he must make this season for him to challenge him for the PL title.

Pep Guadiola informs Enzo Maresca of the crucial acquisition he needs to make this season in order to challenge him for the Premier League title. “If Enzo Maresca is really desperate to challenge for the League title, then He must sign these two players; if not, I don’t see them ending up in the top four this season.”

Enzo Maresca hasn’t yet shown himself to be the greatest choice for Chelsea’s management position as the team prepares for their Premier League debut against Manchester City on Sunday.

In the run-up to his first Premier League season, Pep Guardiola has asked Chelsea to be patient with Enzo Maresca, his former assistant.

After just one season in charge, Mauricio Pochettino left the Blues, and the Italian was named their new head coach in June. Thus, since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital purchased the team in May 2022, Maresca is the club’s fourth manager.

The former footballer for Juventus and Sevilla led City’s under-21 team to Premier League 2 championship in 2021 before accepting his first senior management role at Parma, a Serie B team. His stay in Italy was brief, though, as he returned to Manchester City at the beginning of the 2022–2023 season, this time as Guardiola’s assistant.

But if the Blues want to see success from the Italian forward at Stamford Bridge, Guardiola has asked them to be patient with him ahead of Sunday’s Premier League opener against Maresca’s Chelsea.

“It will work, I advise Chelsea’s owners to give him time,” Guardiola stated at Friday’s pre-game press conference. “It’s true that all managers require time? I’m not sure if Chelsea is the best environment to make deals, but I have the impression that if you give him enough time, it will work.

Speaking on Maresca’s qualifications as a manager after Leicester City’s promotion to the Premier League the previous season, Guardiola stated: “Enzo, his staff, and his players deserve all the credit for the job that he did there.” Once again, Leicester was promoted to the Premier League, and I had no say in the matter.

“I had no idea, I didn’t save anything, and I didn’t score a single goal.” It’s not limited to one path when you work for me. In addition to giving them the information, they also shared it to me, and I also learnt from them. There is back and forth. It affects both parties equally, and the people who collaborate well do it entirely at their own expense.
