The renowned Frenchman, who led his team to victory in the 1998 World Cup, has not been coaching since ending his second term as the head of Real Madrid in 2021. He has been associated with different positions but is currently awaiting a suitable job offer.

Zidane is currently unemployed because he is selective about the job opportunities that interest him, as stated by his former teammate Thomas Gravesen. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been rumored to be interested in bringing the former Ballon d’Or winner to Old Trafford as a replacement for Erik ten Hag, although Manchester United is currently not appealing to the player.

GRAVESEN’S COMMENTS ON ZIDANE
Gravesen said to Discovery Plus that during a conversation in Madrid two years ago, Zidane mentioned that there are only three positions he would consider. The teams are Marseille, Real Madrid, and the French national team. Two years ago in Madrid, he explicitly conveyed that information to me. I inquired if he was open to managing again, and he responded that he would only consider it if there were opportunities for all three.

When questioned about the possibility of Zidane being enticed by an offer from Manchester, the ex-Everton midfielder stated that Zidane had a superb team in Madrid and was well-prepared from the start. The scenario at United is challenging, making it impossible to work with the current team under Ten Hag.

What is the next step?
Ten Hag led Manchester United to win the Carabao Cup last season after a six-year drought and secure their return to the Champions League. However, inconsistency has been a problem in the 2023–24 season. With Ratcliffe now a partial owner, changes are being considered at Old Trafford both on and off the field.
