Alfie Whiteman, the goalkeeper for Tottenham Hotspur, makes his NTS Radio debut.
Alfie Whiteman, a reserve goalkeeper for Tottenham Hotspur F.C., has received his first-ever mixtape on NTS Radio.

“I’m live on NTS until 8PM – tune in!” was how Whiteman, who first enrolled in the Tottenham Academy in 2015, announced on his Instagram story on Monday, announcing his debut on the London station.

The hour-long mix features songs from Cocteau Twins, Elliot Smith, and Floating Points’ 2021 partnership with Pharoah Sanders and The London Symphony Orchestra, “Promises.” Other genres represented in the mix include folk, soul, psychedelic rock, and jazz.

The mix also features the song “And Heaven Turned To Her Weeping” from John Maus and the track “Phone Call” from the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind soundtrack.

The NTS mix blurb describes Alfie Whiteman as a professional football player and artist who puts together a show sharing an eclectic mix of songs he’s been listening to this month to help him get through the start of the year blues. Listen down below.
The Spurs goalkeeper, going by the handle Alfie, has been posting photos and videos to Instagram for over five years. These posts have included self-portraits and short clips from music videos.

It’s his first time experimenting with radio mixes with his NTS show; however, it’s unclear if this is a one-time event or the beginning of a longer residency.

Alfie discussed his musical preferences and his love of jazz music in a get-to-know-you interview on the Spurs website. He added that he preferred seeing his favorite artists perform in a “intimate club” as opposed to a large venue.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper and Tottenham Hotspur agreed to a new deal last month that runs through 2025. Alfie has only made one appearance for the London team, coming on as a substitute for Joe Hart in the 82nd minute of a 2020 match against Ludogorets Razgrad.

It’s not the first football player to attempt DJing, even with Whiteman. Jack Grealish of Man City and Oliver Heldens declared their DJ debut together last year under the moniker DJ Grealo. Defected signee and well-known house DJ Monki also plays semi-professionally for Dulwich Hamlet F.C.
