“I don’t know why Chelsea sold him” – Rio Ferdinand backs former Chelsea talent to win the Ballon d’Or

Rio Ferdinand supports a former Chelsea player to win the Ballon d’Or, saying, “I don’t know why Chelsea sold him.”

Rio Ferdinand believes that Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich will win the Ballon d’Or at some point in his career.

This season, the 20-year-old has scored seven goals and provided three assists for Bayern Munich, solidifying his status as one of Europe’s most gifted players.

After placing third in the previous two years, Musiala came in second place behind Jude Bellingham in the voting for the Kopa Trophy in 2023, which is given to the world’s best Under-21 player.

Musiala spent eight years in Chelsea’s academy prior to joining Bayern in 2019. The midfielder chose to continue his development in Germany, so the Blues were unable to hold onto him.

That has shown to be a serious setback for Chelsea, and Ferdinand believes it may end up costing even more in the future.

Ferdinand declared, “I adore Musiala,” to TNT Sports. “We discuss him frequently. I am not aware of his ceiling.

It is encouraging to read the remarks made by his teammates, who highlight his professionalism and diligence. Leon Goretzka claims he may be Germany’s greatest talent ever.

“The way he glides and moves while using the ball. If he realizes that potential, I see him winning a Ballon d’Or at some point in his career.

With Thomas Tuchel’s team five points behind the leaders in the Bundesliga and needing to overcome a deficit in the Champions League following a first-leg loss in their last-16 match against Lazio, Bayern has had a frustrating season.

Ferdinand praised Musiala’s mentality and expressed confidence that his stock would only rise despite the club’s struggles.

Ferdinand went on, “He doesn’t seem to be the type that’s going to get too high when he’s winning or too low when it’s not going well.”

When surrounded by the right people, he appears to be a very collected and measured young man. That makes a big difference and increases the likelihood that he will maintain his position at the top for an extended amount of time.

After two or three years at the top, those who lose themselves and fall off a cliff are the ones who get too high when things are going well. For the next ten to twelve years, this child will be the best.
