Kiwior hasn’t really stepped on any toes since rejoining the starting lineup. Though the 24-year-old hasn’t looked out of place at left-back, which is a far cry from his performances in the position earlier in the campaign, players like William Saliba and Gabriel receive the most appreciation.

In fact, Kiwior has started six of his seven league games this season at left-back. Before the new year, his performances were, to put it mildly, lackluster.

The Pole was hooked halfway through the second half of the eventual win at Luton, played the entire 90 minutes in the 2-2 home draw with Fulham back in August, and only saw the first half of the New Year’s Eve match at Craven Cottage.
He wasn’t well-known in these parts when he came from Italy a little more than a year ago, but he came in with a solid reputation. After just a year, Arsenal could have easily cut their losses on Kiwior, as the defender was rumored to be joining AC Milan in January. However, the team refused to let him go. It might turn out to be a brilliant choice.

Given Kiwior’s form, there are even suggestions that Arsenal won’t need Zinchenko once he returns to fitness, but it’s important to keep an optimistic mindset. Various left-backs for various situations, and all that.

The quality of opposition has contributed to Kiwior’s dominance in the Premier League during Zinchenko’s absence.
