HERE WE GO: Napoli is currently actively pursuing a resolution for Victor Osimhen, since the transfer to Chelsea has been hindered.
Victor Osimhen’s departure from Napoli is now hindered by obstacles. Chelsea has expressed a longstanding interest in signing the Nigerian striker. Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is interested in acquiring Romelu Lukaku.
Napoli is actively pursuing the departure of Victor Osimhen from the club this summer, but the move is currently being hindered, as stated by the club’s sporting director. Osimhen has been a long-term goal for Chelsea.
Osimhen, who has scored a total of 76 goals for Napoli since joining the club in 2020, has not yet played in any matches this season as he aims to go to a different team.
Chelsea have been after Osimhen since the autumn of 2022, but Napoli has consistently asked for a high fee for the Nigerian player. In recent times, there has been discussion about the potential transfer of Romelu Lukaku, who is currently a player for Chelsea, to Napoli as part of a comprehensive agreement. This agreement would need Chelsea to still pay approximately £60m for Osimhen.
Chelsea’s apprehensions regarding the whole cost of the deal have caused a delay, leading them to plan on pursuing an agreement towards the end of the transfer window.
“The coach, Antonio Conte, stated an objective fact that the situation is at a standstill,” said Giovanni Manna, the head of Napoli, in an interview with Sky Sport Italia.
“Victor is a significant player, possessing substantial value and favourable conditions.” His intention is evident. Currently, we made an effort to preserve the unity and coherence of the team. We are not the sole club facing this predicament, and we will observe the developments in the upcoming ten days.
“Currently, it is inappropriate to make any assertions regarding the present sensations.” We are collaborating with his team to identify the optimal resolution. As previously mentioned, he has a significant role, making it challenging to locate a suitable replacement. Given that he is now bound by a contract for the next two seasons, it is evident that if we do not reach a resolution by 30 August, we will need to engage in a conversation with the player.
Chelsea have been actively seeking to augment their roster with an additional striker during the current summer transfer window. Currently, the only person who has arrived from Barcelona is Marc Guiu, who is 18 years old. A potential £34.5m agreement for Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid fell through, even though the teams had agreed on a cost.
The Blues have recently been associated with the possibility of signing former loan player Joao Felix once again. This has resulted in a delay for Conor Gallagher’s previously agreed transfer to Atletico.
