NOW WE GO: Manchester United has finally signed a £40 million Champions League winner. The club had wanted to pay £50 million, but United settled for £40 million. The player is currently in Manchester for a medical examination today.

In order to complete the purchase of Manuel Ugarte before the summer transfer window closes, Man Utd and PSG are almost certain to reach an agreement.

The purchase is expected to close, according to a number of media reports, however varying numbers are given. We examine.

According to reports in France, Le Parisien, the Red Devils and PSG are expected to come to an agreement over a 60 million euro, or £51 million, fee.

But this morning, in the print version of iNews, a different figure is mentioned; the headline reads, “United closing in on £40m deal for PSG man Ugarte.”

The French champions have been trying to recover the £50 million they had to pay Sporting CP, the current Liga Nos winners, for the Uruguayan destroyer.

According to iNews, Man Utd and PSG are nearing a deal for Ugarte, and both teams are aware that they will have to make a “compromise on his price tag.”

The 23-year-old playmaker played just five games for PSG in the previous season’s UEFA Champions League, and he did not start any games during the competition’s elimination stages as the Paris giants were eliminated in the semifinals.

Erik ten Hag’s team will receive a huge boost with the addition of Ugarte, who will likely replace Casemiro in the long run and serve the Old Trafford club. Man Utd have already had a successful summer transfer window.
