UP NEXT: Manchester United announce the acquisition of a £70 million midfield player who outperformed De Bruyne in goals and assists last season. A player representative is currently in Manchester to finalise the transaction prior to today’s match against Brighton.

After the club have recruited three defenders and one attacker this summer, Manchester United supporters have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of a midfield player. Though not in the manner you may expect, the Red Devils are very close to making one.

In key signing decisions made this summer, Man Utd is already feeling the influence of former Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth, and it is customary for him to be thinking ahead while the team works to strengthen the present.

Man Utd’s projected acquisition of Arsenal’s incredible potential Chido Obi-Martin is the ideal illustration of this kind of addition.

In a related vein, The Athletic reports that the Red Devils and Guidars FC of Mali have agreed to sign 2006-born Sekou Kone.

The eighteen-year-old, who is regarded as a great talent, plays mostly as a defensive midfielder with the ideal physical makeup to be a #6. Fabrizio Romano claims that Kone was being pursued by a number of teams this summer, but Man Utd beat them to his signature.

Like Chido Obi-Martin, Kone is seen by Man Utd as a long-term player, according to Romano. The young Mali player will be relocating to a very different nation, and the Red Devils are aware that it might take some time for him to adjust.

The 18-year-old need to look no farther than Tottenham player Yves Bissouma for inspiration on a career path. When he was 19 years old, the 27-year-old travelled to France with LOSC Lille. A year later, he moved to Brighton, and then to Spurs.

Kone is hoping for a comparable professional path. Like Garnacho, Diallo, and Mainoo in previous years, Man Utd prioritises its youth and provides them with a pathway to the first team. The 18-year-old just needs to make sure he puts in a lot of effort into improving his skills.

With the addition of another elite player, the Red Devils appear to have a bright future ahead of them. In the upcoming years, let’s hope Kone can grow as anticipated and join the first squad.
