NOW WE DO: The £60 million South American superstar has finally been signed by Chelsea, defeating Arsenal in the process. The jersey number has been finalised, and tomorrow morning’s medicals are scheduled.

Chelsea’s efforts to get Joao Felix back to Stamford Bridge have elicited a response from him. Under his new manager, Diego Simeone, the former Blues loanee has had a delightful campaign and is continuing to exercise normally. The manager also says that the player is vital to the depth of his current team.

Amidst Athletico Madrid’s bizarre situation, Chelsea’s pursuit of Samu Omorodion’s contract fell through, with rumours circulating that the Spanish team would not be able to complete a deal even if they sold one player.

Despite being called back to London, Conor Gallagher has not been a part of Chelsea’s long-term plans under Enzo Maresca. The England international was given a £34.5 million release clause by the Blues, and Athletico had stated that the agreement would be finalised even before Samu Omorodion left the Spanish team.

Joao is valued by Athletico at £40 million, which is the asking price and offer that the Blues won’t pursue unless Diego Simeone completes Conor Gallagher’s contract.

Joao Felix is performing quite well, Simeone stated in his pre-match press conference today. His competitive spirit and readiness for any task are qualities that any member of this team should possess. Whether or not we can employ him tomorrow will depend on time.

Although Felix’s possible departure may have been hinted at by Simeone, Chelsea might find solace in his statement that “the squad is not closed yet, and we know what we’re looking for and what we want.” The squad is being finalised via work.

Victor Osimhen of Napoli is allegedly attracting interest from Stamford Bridge as well. But in his first Premier League press conference this week, manager Enzo Maresca declined to discuss transfer issues.

“It is incorrect to discuss about a player from Napoli or an Atletico Madrid player because that is all I can say about them,” he emphasised. “The club is aware of exactly what I believe we need, and hopefully we can add some players before the transfer window closes.”

Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke would have to make room before the window closes on August 30 if a deal for Felix closes. Osimhen, on the other hand, would probably be a loan arrangement rather than a long-term move.

After suffering a terrible 0–2 loss to champions Manchester City yesterday evening, Chelsea is still considering signing Victor Osimhen. However, it appears the manager would prefer to improve his forward by acquiring more proficient finishers, putting the Napoli starlet on the verge of joining West London before the transfer window closes.
