Let’s get started: Chelsea has acquired a superstar for £60 million, defeating Arsenal in the process. Today at London Colney, medicals will be performed. A four-year agreement has been made. In the upcoming day, the unveiling will take place.

Since the summer of last year, Chelsea and Napoli striker Victor have been linked, and now Enzo Maresca has made the decision to complete his transfer ambitions.

Smith anticipates a “last minute rush” in the window generally, but we don’t think Chelsea’s absurd €120 million offer to Napoli will be included.

According to reports, Napoli has lowered their asking price for the Nigerian international, and Chelsea is reportedly considering a move. Given their financial difficulties, they are likely to add one player from Chelsea to the deal.

As previously said, Super agent Jon Smith’s CaughtOffside column was a terrific read today as always. Although it had a fairly broad focus, he did suggest a Chelsea deal.

When asked to predict some of the big deals we could see later in the summer once the Euros are done and clubs have had a chance to sell some players to raise finances, Smith said, “I’m also looking at Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, which is an obvious one for Chelsea.”

This comes after rumours earlier in the day that a transfer isn’t completely ruled out, provided Osimhen’s team Napoli lowers their asking price—which has remained astronomically high, as one might anticipate for a top striker in his prime.

We don’t usually disagree with someone as knowledgeable as Smith, but in our opinion, the Osimhen transaction has never been more implausible than it does right now.

For years, Chelsea pursued him hard, and all the while, we were told that their scouts were observing him and that Chelsea was considering what it would take to convince Napoli to sell him. Since the window opened, we have seldom seen his name mentioned at all, and since roughly six months ago, the general conversation about moving has really cooled off.

The dismal season the striker had by his high standards was hardly going to convince us to break the bank (and the salary structure) to move heaven and earth to sign him, and we’re not interested in spending the kind of money on transfer fees and wages it would take to bring him in.

Chelsea might eventually give up on the agreement, though, as they wait for more market offers.
