HERE WE GO: Chelsea confirms another transfer signing as £40M star arrives in West London ahead of Stamford Bridge switch.
NOW WE GO: A £40 million star arrives in West London before to his move to Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea reveals another major acquisition.
Ivan Toney of Brentford is reportedly getting closer to a projected £50 million transfer to Saudi Pro League team Al-Ahli this summer, and Chelsea made a last-ditch effort to sign him.
The Times reports that Brentford is “confident” they can sell the highly sought-after England player, with personal terms being “agreed” in advance. According to reports, Al-Ahli made a £35 million offer for Toney, but the Premier League team rejected it while they considered their options.
The Sun noted that Chelsea was showing “interest.” With just a year remaining on his deal, Toney, who participated in Euro 2024 this summer, has Brentford “considering” a new offer.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Blues finalised a deal to acquire Joao Felix for £46 million, which allowed them to trade Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid. The West Londoners have been linked to a move for an all-out striker, though, and Toney has been much sought after this summer.
He was left out of their roster for the first game on August 30, raising concerns about his future as the deadline of August 30 drew near. In addition to his six England caps, the striker boasts an outstanding record in the Premier League, with 36 goals and 11 assists from 85 games.
Before Brentford’s season-opening game, manager Thomas Frank acknowledged that Toney’s sale might be imminent. “Ivan has a lot going on; there’s some transfer interest,” he stated.
“We decided not to include him in the squad because of all that.” Who knows? [If this is his final game]. Interest is present. However, nothing comes close.
