Finally done: 18yrs Young sensational reject Man city lucrative deal to a record-breaking contract with the Gunners
According to Football Insider’s sources, Arsenal star Ethan Nwaneri is expected to agree to a record-breaking contract with the Gunners following a “substantial” offer from Man City.
A professional contract will be signed by the 16-year-old with the Londoners the moment he turns 17 on March 21.
Premier League clubs were fiercely competitive when they offered Nwaneri a scholarship, but in two weeks, that agreement will be formalized into a professional contract.
Man City reportedly made a “substantial” offer for the attacking midfielder, but Chelsea was also keen on signing him.
The player, who was born in 2007, has already received the highest salary ever given to an Arsenal academy player as part of an unprecedented contract for the club.
His progress since joining the academy in 2016 has earned him the admiration of manager Mikel Arteta and the club’s upper management.
This Englishman, who was born in Nigeria, became the youngest player in Premier League history last season when he made his professional debut as a late substitute in Arsenal’s 3-0 away win over Brentford. He was fifteen years and eight hundred and one days old.
Six times this season across all competitions, he has been named to the senior matchday squad. Last month, he came on as a second-half substitute in Arsenal’s 6-0 win against West Ham United.
Between the North London giants’ under-19 and under-21 teams, he has scored thirteen goals and assisted on three others in thirteen games played this season across all competitions.
The Arsenal faithful will be ecstatic to hear that Nwaneri has extended his stay with the club. They have great respect for the youngster and believe that the manager should give him more opportunities.
