My issue with United supporters is that they like dragging the incorrect player, but Zirkzee is not to fault for that error, despite everyone else’s accusations to the contrary. Andre Onana identifies the sole Manchester United player who contributed to their loss to Brighton. Not Zirkzee

Manchester United’s disallowed goal in their 2-1 loss to Brighton, according to Andre Onana, was just “part of football.”

Brighton won thanks to a late goal from Joao Pedro; former United striker Danny Welbeck scored for the Seagulls as well. Erik ten Hag’s team equalised by a goal from Amad Diallo, and Alejandro Garnacho appeared to have won it when he tapped in a cross from Bruno Fernandes.

Unfortunately, Joshua Zirkzee was hit by the ball just as it crossed the line, and a VAR check resulted in an offside call. Brighton was able to reply and win all three points as Pedro headed in a Simon Adingra.

After the game, Onana said to club reporters, “We came here to win, unfortunately we didn’t win.” We played a fantastic game, and in my opinion, we were superior than them because we had more possession, opportunities, and overall game control.

“We have to go on, it’s unfortunate that they disallowed us a goal, but that’s part of life and football. Naturally, after exchanging views and discussing what went wrong, we will sit down and examine the films before taking further action.

“Big teams and big games are coming up, so there will be a lot of expectation. These days, [mentality] is everything, particularly when you play for a large club like mine. Many of our players share that upbeat outlook, which is incredibly beneficial to the team and the organisation.

“We have to get ready again for the upcoming games, but we move on and are used to this, so no problem.” Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, meantime, was furious with his team’s display and pleaded with them to “act better as a team.”

“It is discouraging, particularly when you have control for extended periods of the game while we are in control and performing so well,” the Dutchman remarked. “We gave up two really avoidable, needless goals.

“That’s how we feel; as a team, we should have played better because we let up two easy goals. As a team, we safeguard our objective, communicate, and agree on what to do in these situations. Everyone knows their role.
