Erling Haaland has expressed his support for Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund, acknowledging his recent improvement and expecting further progress.

Hojlund faced difficulties during his initial six months at Old Trafford, but he started the year 2024 in an impressive manner by scoring seven goals in six Premier League matches. This kind of performance is familiar to Haaland, who has also experienced similar success. Unfortunately, Hojlund’s streak was cut short due to an injury.

After witnessing Hojlund’s ability to adapt to the challenges of the Premier League, Haaland, a player for Manchester City, encouraged the 21-year-old to continue his progress and demonstrate his value to United once he recovers from his injury.

“Initially, his beginning was challenging, but subsequently it significantly improved,” Haaland reminisced. “He exhibited exceptional skill when we competed against him.”

“He is a talented player who, like me, is young and still has room for growth. As a forward for Manchester United, it is crucial for him to consistently score goals, as that is his primary responsibility.”

Hojlund’s impressive performance has also attracted the attention of Andy Cole, a renowned former player for Manchester United, who scored 121 goals in 275 matches for the club from 1995 to 2001.

“There were high expectations for him upon his initial arrival here,” Cole informed United’s internal media. “He was a youthful individual experiencing significant stress, with a substantial financial value attached to him, in a team that was not generating a substantial number of opportunities.”

“I believe it is beneficial for him as he has gained a sense of self-assurance.” Confidence plays a significant role in football. He scored his first goal against Villa and has been consistently scoring goals ever since. Personally, I desire to witness his ongoing continuation of that.

“Indeed, there will come a moment when he will not be able to score goals, as it is an inherent aspect of football. However, as long as he continues to execute the correct actions, he will be fine.”
