Done deal: Green Bay Packers Reveal Surprise Surgery for 3X Pro Bowl Starter
The Green Bay Packers dropped unexpected news this week, announcing that veteran offensive lineman and three-time Pro Bowl starter Elgton Jenkins recently underwent surgery.
The procedure, described by team sources as “minor but necessary,” caught many fans and analysts off guard. Jenkins, known for his versatility and toughness, had not previously been listed on injury reports or shown signs of health concerns during offseason activities. The Packers did not disclose the exact nature of the surgery, but early reports suggest it was related to a cleanup procedure from a prior injury.
Jenkins has been a crucial part of the Packers’ offensive line since being drafted in 2019. His ability to play multiple positions — including left guard, center, and tackle — has made him an invaluable asset for Green Bay, especially during times of injury and transition. He earned Pro Bowl honors in 2020, 2021, and 2023, building a reputation as one of the league’s most consistent and reliable blockers.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur addressed the situation briefly during a press conference, saying, “Elgton is doing well. We expect a full recovery before the start of training camp.”
Still, the surprise nature of the announcement has led to questions about how the team is managing health updates during the offseason. Fans are hoping this is truly just a routine matter — not the start of lingering issues for one of their key players.
With expectations high for the 2025 season, especially following quarterback Jordan Love’s strong development, the Packers will need a healthy offensive line to protect their young star and keep momentum going.
For now, all eyes will be on Jenkins’ recovery and whether this unexpected surgery impacts his readiness for Week 1.
