Deal completed: The forward who scored 17 goals for the team last season, who was offered £60 million by Arsenal, has finally been granted permission to join; the player accepted the United offer last night. Fabrizio Romano verified this morning

Journalist Graeme Bailey claims that Arsenal has expressed interest in signing Ademola Lookman of Atalanta.

The 26-year-old, who moved from RB Leipzig to Gewiss Stadium back in 2022, has become something of a totem for La Dea over the past few seasons.

In 45 games in all competitions, he recorded 10 assists and 17 goals last season, enjoying a fantastic campaign. He even led his team to win the Europa League, ending a trophy drought spanning more than 60 years.

The forward was not included in La Dea’s squad for their opening Serie A match against Lecce, and it is now expected that he will depart Atalanta before the end of current window.

Bailey has now revealed on TBR Football that Arsenal has expressed interest in signing Lookman and that they have been keeping a close eye on his current circumstances.

Lookman to Arsenal
The journalist does note that Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, and Liverpool are all in the running, with Les Parisiens displaying the strongest level of commitment.

With two years remaining on his current deal, the Nigerian, who Transfermarkt values at approximately £34 million, has the ability to command a high price to allow their star player to depart.

If the Gunners decide to formally express their interest in him, they will need to spend a significant sum of money to entice him to the Emirates Stadium because the Italian team typically plays hardball when it comes to selling its assets.

Lookman connects the play effectively and is a technically sound player. He also has the skills to operate in Mikel Arteta’s possession-based style because he can dribble past opposing defenders in confined spaces.

It would be intriguing to see, though, if the North London team decides to take more decisive action to get his signature before current transfer window closes.

Arsenal, meanwhile, defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 to begin their Premier League campaign. Next weekend, Arteta’s team will travel to Villa Park to play Aston Villa. Arsenal will be motivated to win because they were defeated in this matchup the previous year.
