FINALLY APPROVED: The Manchester United board has authorised the signing of a £45 million English player, who has agreed to reduce his wage in exchange. An announcement is expected soon.

TalkSPORT claims that Manchester United has been offered the chance to sign Chelsea full-back Ben Chilwell.

According to reports, manager Enzo Maresca has informed the 27-year-old that he is not included in his plans.

He was not included in the starting lineup for Sunday’s Premier League match at Stamford Bridge versus Manchester City.

Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, two left backs for United, are out due to injuries at the moment.

Friday’s 1-0 triumph over Fulham by the Red Devils saw Diogo Dalot playing out of position.

Although he can play on both sides, Noussair Mazraoui, a recent addition, primarily plays right back.

If Chilwell doesn’t wind up costing United a lot of money, he might be a wise addition.

In 2020, he signed a contract worth approximately £45 million to join Chelsea from Leicester City (BBC Sport).

Chilwell has made 106 appearances for the Blues in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing assists.

But due to several injury problems, he only made nine Premier League starts the previous season.
