The idea of re-signing Fikayo Tomori has been discussed within Chelsea.
Well-known journalist Simon Phillips says as much.
The 25-year-old Fikayo Tomori is a graduate of the Chelsea academy, having progressed through the Cobham youth system.
The center back appeared in 27 games for the Blues’ first squad. But in the end, he was sold to AC Milan in 2021 for £30 million (The Guardian).

Conversations with Chelsea
Chelsea is reportedly discussing Milan’s standout defender, according to Phillips’ report on his Substack this afternoon.
There have reportedly been recent discussions about a potential transfer for the former Blues youth product inside Stamford Bridge.
“I am told that Fikayo Tomori has been discussed internally at the club in recent weeks as a potential center back,” Phillip wrote.

“I’m not sure who specifically has brought him up, or how serious that interest is at this point. All I know is that the club has been talking about him lately.
Fikayo Tomori is a good defensive back.
Over the past few years in Italy, Tomori’s game has advanced significantly.
The all-action center-half is very strong, quick, and observant of the game. He also has Champions League big-game experience.
Without a doubt, his career has benefited greatly from the transfer to Serie A. By the way, Tomori previously stated to The Players’ Tribune that Thiago Silva persuaded him to sign with Milan.
Without a doubt, if Chelsea increased their interest in signing the England international next year, he would return to the Premier League much closer to the finished product. However, we’re not sure if it’s required at this time.
Chelsea’s head coach Mauricio Pochettino currently has an excellent group of center halves at his disposal. Thiago Silva, Levi Colwill, Benoit Badiashile, and Axel Disasi are a few examples of this. Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah are also sidelined due to injuries.

A Chelsea player injured in his head during the previous game passed away last night. 😭😭😭
According to Correio da Manha (page 26), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has determined that Goncalo Inacio, a star player for Sporting Lisbon, is the perfect partner for Virgil van Dijk in central defense.
The Portuguese center back has been linked to a move to the Premier League for the past few years, and Correio da Manha (CdM) reports that he has always wanted to play in the top division in England.
He has been under observation by the Reds for almost two seasons, and Klopp has instructed the club’s administration to sign him when the transfer window reopens at the beginning of 2024.
The German strategist views Inacio as a “priority” for January and wants him to partner with Van Dijk. Despite Inacio’s current €60 million (£52 million) release clause, Liverpool is not deterred.
According to today’s CdM update, the competition from Manchester United, Manchester City, and Real Madrid in the New Year may be the biggest worry for the Merseyside giants.
The best team to sign Inacio this winter is Liverpool.
Last summer, the Reds were willing to pay £111 million to sign Moises Caicedo, but he ultimately decided to sign with Chelsea.

Haaland’s first goal in the 2022–23 Carabao Cup against Liverpool came in at 0:42.
The club’s management clearly has money to spend during the January transfer window because they only used a small portion of that sum to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich.
They will have a great chance of landing Inacio over United, for example, because of this. We don’t think Real Madrid or Manchester City will spend a lot of money on a center back in the middle of the season.
Due to the lack of owner investment, United is currently in a difficult Financial Fair Play situation. As a result, they may find it difficult to pay Sporting’s demand for the majority of the Inacio fee up front.
Liverpool would do well to acquire Inacio. He is a powerful center back who enjoys playing with the ball and clearing his lines. He has a strong physical presence and has also been successful in recovering balls.
Given that he is left-footed, the Portuguese would give the Reds’ backline an additional dimension. He could provide good competition for Ibrahima Konate and would undoubtedly command a starting role.
