Check out the €100m premier league striker Arsenal is going for to fill in the long Vacant role of Goal scorer for the team
David Ornstein says Arsenal could go for £100m Premier League striker instead of
Arsenal continue to be linked with a new striker heading into the January transfer window.
The Gunners are missing a recognised 20-goal-a-season striker in their squad, and as they look to push for a league title this term, they need more firepower.
Ivan Toney has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal as of late, but speaking on The Daily Football Briefing, David Ornstein has poured cold water on those rumours.
Ornstein says that Toney is on Arsenal’s list, but he doesn’t see that move happening.
Interestingly, Ornstein did name three other strikers who are of interest to Arsenal, including Brighton’s Evan Ferguson.
Ferguson a target for Arsenal
Ornstein shared what he knows about the Brighton star.
“In terms of Arsenal there will be those at Arsenal who like him (Toney), he will be on Arsenal’s list as others will be – Victor Osimhen, Benjamin Sesko, Evan Ferguson, loads of other clubs have these same names on their lists, but if I was to give you my information at time of recording, I don’t think it’s likely Arsenal will be signing him,” Ornstein said.
As exciting as this link is, we have to imagine that this move isn’t likely to happen in January.
Ferguson has only recently signed a new contract with Brighton to keep him at the Amex for the long-term, while he’s been mooted as a £100m player in the past.
After spending over £200m in the summer, it’s hard to imagine that Arsenal will have that sort of money to spend this winter, and even if they did, are they really going to spend it on a 19-year-old who still has lots to prove at the top level?
By the sounds of it, Arsenal’s search for a striker next month won’t be straightforward to say the least.
David Ornstein claims that rather than continuing to be linked to a new striker as the January transfer window approaches, Arsenal may opt to pursue a £100 million Premier League striker.
The Gunners lack a proven 20-goal season striker in their lineup, and they will require more firepower if they are to contend for a league title this year.
Recently, Ivan Toney has been heavily linked to a move to Arsenal; however, David Ornstein, speaking on The Daily Football Briefing, has shot down those rumors.
Ornstein claims that Toney is on Arsenal’s roster, but he does not anticipate that transfer taking place.
It’s interesting to note that Ornstein did list three other strikers that Arsenal may be interested in, including Evan Ferguson of Brighton.
Arsenal is pursuing Ferguson
Ornstein revealed his knowledge of the Brighton star.
“There will be people at Arsenal who like him (Toney), and he will be on Arsenal’s list along with others like Victor Osimhen, Benjamin Sesko, and Evan Ferguson. These names are on the lists of many other clubs as well. However, based on what I know at the time of recording, I don’t think it’s likely that Arsenal will be signing him,” Ornstein stated.
Even though this link is exciting, we have to assume that this move is unlikely to occur in January.
Ferguson was once mentioned as a £100 million player, but he only recently inked a new deal with Brighton to remain at the Amex for the long run.
It’s difficult to think Arsenal will have that kind of money to spend this winter after spending over £200 million in the summer, and even if they did, would they really throw it away on a 19-year-old who still has a lot of things to prove at the highest level?
It appears that Arsenal’s pursuit of a striker for the upcoming month will not be simple, to put it mildly.
