Check out surprise boost Andre onAna just gave man United
Andre Onana has been named to Cameroon’s AFCON squad.
Goalkeeper hopes to prolong his career at Manchester United
The Red Devils start their FA Cup campaign in January.
In an effort to prolong his stay at Manchester United before Cameroon’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign, Andre Onana is trying to postpone his release.
The goalie’s ban from the national team ended, and he was added to Cameroon’s squad for the tournament the following month.
The Indomitable Lions’ AFCON campaign officially begins on January 15 when they play Guinea, despite being one of the favorites to win the tournament.
Consequently, Onana is reportedly in discussions with the Cameroonian FA to postpone his call-up until following United’s FA Cup third-round match on January 8, according to ESPN. The Red Devils are scheduled to travel to Wigan Athletic, a League One team, for a brief match.
At the beginning of January, Cameroon will depart for Saudi Arabia for a pre-tournament training camp, where they will play one final friendly match against Zambia. Following their match against Guinea, they will play the Gambia and the highly anticipated Senegal in their remaining two group stage matches.

With the AFCON final set for February 11, Onana’s absence from United matches while traveling with Cameroon could total no more than seven.
On January 14, Erik ten Hag’s team will host Tottenham Hotspur, a Premier League team ranked in the top four, at Old Trafford. In early February, the team will play Wolves, West Ham United, and Aston Villa.
In the FA Cup, Onana would also miss any third-round replays against Wigan, as well as any necessary replays and a fourth-round tie.
Ten Hag is anticipated to substitute fellow summer signing Altay Bayindir for Onana. The Turkey international joined United from Fenerbahce, but he hasn’t played yet.
