Jose Mourinho, who previously managed Manchester United, reportedly told Gareth Southgate that he could handle any job after leading England. Southgate is reportedly being linked with a transfer to Old Trafford.
Amidst rumors linking Gareth Southgate with Manchester United, Jose Mourinho stated that Southgate would be capable of handling “any job” in the future.
Erik ten Hag is currently United’s manager, but the Dutchman’s job is in danger because his team is far behind the elite of the Premier League. At this point in time, they are eleven points behind fourth place, and the ex-Ajax manager is probably doomed if his team does not make the Champions League.
Several prominent coaches have been mentioned as potential candidates for the position of manager in recent weeks, although new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has not yet made a decision on the matter. A new report from ESPN states that Southgate is the most recent name to be mentioned as a potential target.
The manager’s contract with the FA expires in December, but he is busy getting England ready for the European Championships this summer. Plus, around the new year, he came clean about the fact that Jose Mourinho, the former United manager, had told him he could handle any job he put his mind to after leading his country.
According to Southgate’s interview with Sky Sports, he managed the Premier League teams that finished 12th and 13th when he was 35 years old. Up until recently, I had no idea what I know now. Now that you’ve been through this, no job in world football can scare or intimidate you.
“When Jose (Mourinho) was at Manchester United, he told me, ‘When you’ve done the role you’re in now you’ll be able to do anything really.'” I’ll never forget that discussion. After seven years, I realised it was absolutely correct; before then, I just assumed it was right. I feel prepared for this position and any others that may come my way.
Obviously, I won’t be around for another twenty or thirty years, and I have no idea what the future holds. Whatever it is, I’m not anxious about it, and I’m very composed about it.

Ratcliffe has not publicly backed Ten Hag since assuming control of Old Trafford’s sporting operations, but the Manchester United chief recently stated that he is not concerned about his job security.
The actor recently told reporters, “I’m under contract for three seasons, so I don’t care.” This statement was made in response to speculation. Because I am engrossed in this process, I am oblivious to the world around me.
“I have many talks with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, also with Sir Dave Brailsford and others in that group, so I know where we are talking about and I have a strong belief and I feel that they believe in me.”
