As the strain on the struggling Dutchman grows, several players on Manchester United’s roster are worried about the severity of Erik ten Hag’s methods.

Several Manchester United players have voiced their displeasure with Erik ten Hag’s running demands.

The Dutch manager’s long-term future has been the talk of Old Trafford in recent weeks, as Ten Hag has presided over an unimpressive campaign. The future of Ten Hag’s contract with the club is uncertain as new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has not publicly endorsed him.

Even before Sunday’s much-anticipated Manchester derby, which United lost 3-1, the former Ajax chief was under scrutiny. United finished the weekend 11 points behind fourth-place Aston Villa, meaning they now have a tough road ahead of them if they want to qualify for the Champions League next year.

Although Ten Hag has other problems now, according to a new report from The Manchester Evening News, some United players think that after a 2022–23 season with 62 games in total, the intensity of Ten Hag’s methods are too taxing. Their belief that these demands are a factor in the club’s extensive injury list is also alleged.

Numerous first-team players were absent from Sunday’s derby due to injury or illness; United has suffered an alarming 47 such cases this season. Among those absent were Rasmus Hojlund, Luke Shaw, and Harry Maguire.

While he battles for a future at Old Trafford, Ten Hag is not likely to welcome discontent in the locker room. Speculation abounds that Ineos has not yet made a decision on Ten Hag’s future with the club, but if Manchester United do not make the Champions League, it is believed that Ten Hag will not be retained beyond this season.

United great Paul Scholes, on the other hand, thinks Ratcliffe and his squad have decided on Ten Hag and will replace the manager before next season.

Paul Scholes believes Manchester United have already decided to sack Ten Hag

A team that ought to be contending for the league is completely absent from what we’re witnessing, Scholes stated on Sunday in an interview with Optus Sport. No matter the season, it always seems so far away.

“I think they [INEOS] have already made their mind up,” Scholes said in response to a question about whether he believed Ten Hag would remain in charge for the upcoming season. His presence next season is highly doubtful, in my opinion. No.

Based on the interviews we’ve had with Sir Jim, I got the impression that the club has had some bad press over the past decade or so, particularly in the past two. The way things are going, I don’t think he’s happy. It would not surprise me in the least if they are currently seeking a new manager. It’s not the right choice, I’m afraid.
